2. Alfvén waves propagate along magnetic field lines; they are incompressible with magnetic field and velocity fluctuations transverse to the direction of propagation. In contrast, compressible magnetohydrodynamic perturbations include magnetic waves and magnetoacoustic gravity waves. In an appropriate low-frequency range, the latter manifest as magnetogravity waves.
