note
-
Readers may well wonder about the constitutionality of my proposals. It is uncontroversial that it is permissible to teach about religious views of nature in the public schools, but it can also be argued that such teaching is required if public education is to be truly neutral, in accordance with the courts' interpretation of the First Amendment. See Nord, pp. 241-49, 292-96; and Nord and Haynes, pp. 23-25, 153-55.
