    • This passage (Job 13:15) reads quite differently in other English translations. For example, the Jerusalem Bible translation [Job addressing God] reads "Let him kill me if he will; I have no other hope than to justify my conduct in his eyes." My colleague Gerald Janzen informs me that this passage is problematic in that the Hebrew to eyachel can be translated either "I will hope in him" or "I will have no hope." The Hebrew word for hope (trust in the King James Version) has the connotation of "trembling with anticipation." To me the King James Version best captures the spirit of Job's struggle with God.
