It should be noted that contributions from several known sources such as γ-ray contamination and double β decay have not been subtracted. In the energy range of our interest, less than 500 keV, the former dominates and is primarily due to bremsstrahlung radiation (created by (Formula presented) betas) arising in the lead shield and making its way into the Ge. Unfortunately for our purposes, this contribution was not measured independently, so it cannot be subtracted. It is expected that this will be done in a future experiment.PRLTAO
