    • The full sequence except the identities of the two N-terminal Xle residues was obtained as follows. Nine ECD and three low-energy CAD mass spectra of five Arg-C peptides and seven Lys-C peptides gave cleavages of all 134 interresidue bonds. The total sequence obtained by this "shotgun" approach was aligned using seven overlaps between the peptides. As a final step, HECD was performed for Xle identification.
