    • All methyl groups at the BSA solution-air interface contribute to the SFG intensity of methyl peaks. Such methyl groups may have a broad orientation distribution; not all of them orient along the surface normal. To simplify our interpretation, in this paper, we deduce the "equivalent number of methyl groups parallel to the surface normal per adsorbed BSA" from the SFG intensity and BSA coverage and use such number as an indicator to characterize BSA conformation at the solution-air interface.
