The syndrome was associated with male gender, squamous cell histology, decreased performance status, higher stage, increased white blood cell count, bone metastases, increased creatinine levels, and decreased survival. Patients with higher levers (<150 pmol/L) were found to have increased frequency of bone metastases and decreased survival.
