    • Typical procedure for esterification: 3-Phenylpropionic acid (150 mg, 1. 0 mmol), 9-bromo-1-nonanol (223 mg, 1.0 mmol) and PS-AFDPAT (65 mg, 0.05 mmol) were heated (80°C) in toluene with stirring for 24 h. PS-AFDPAT was filtered and the solvent was recovered by evaporation to give the crude product, which was purified by column chromatography on silica gel (hexane: ethyl acetate = 10: 1) to give pure carboxylic ester (330 mg, 93%).
