58. It has been shown that an approximate expression similar to Eq. (5) can also be obtained for the probability of electron scattering by optical surface phonons [see E. Evans and D L. Mills, Phys. Rev. B7, 853 (1973)]. The validity of such an expression has been demonstrated in a passage from a quantum-mechanical to a quasiclassical description of the projectile motion, assuming a long-range projectile-phonon interaction.
