1. Much of industrial chemistry, materials science and metallurgy may be viewed as nanotechnology in that they exploit organization and/or activity at the nanoscale. They represent primitive nanotechnology in that they tend to be homogeneous, near-equilibrium and with minimal information content. More sophisticated is digital electronics technology that has sub-100nm nominal minimum feature sizes in production.
