11. The researcher undertook the classification of women farmers' extent and type of integration or exclusion from the agricultural occupation on the basis of data derived from the interviews
12. There are also about 10% of women who exclude themselves from agriculture, usually temporarily, because they have small children or a non-farm employment. They are left out of the analysis because within a few years they usually move over to one of the other categories.
13. The number of interviewed women is higher than that of interviewed men because the European Commission contract that financed the research entitled: 'Causes and Mechanisms of Women Smallholders' Exclusion' placed the emphasis on women smallholders.
