    • In equilibrium and for lowest order, the finite magnetization in the leads does not yield a spin accumulation in the dot. To understand this let us first include a finite density of state for minority spins in the leads. Then, majority-spin electrons enter the QD at a higher rate than minority spins but this is exactly compensated for by a higher rate for the majority spin to leave the dot. This remains true also in the half-metallic limit.
