    • Compound 1 shows only fast reaction with aldehydes, but not with ketones. In addition, hydrazones derived from ketones (e.g. acetone, acetophenone) show significantly lower fluorescence. Thus, the use of isopropenyl acetate as acyl donor, for example, is less feasible.

    • It is recommended to use tape-sealed MTPs to avoid evaporation of the highly volatile acetaldehyde. Fluorescence is measured preferentially from the top of the MTP to avoid interactions with solid enzyme particles.
