The asymptotic exoergicity of the double electron-transfer is calculated from the ionization potential (11.81 eV) and the electron affinity (3.36 eV) of Br minus twice the work function (5.95 eV) of Pt(111). Consequently, ∼27 eV is deposited as both electronic and vibrational excitations in the lattice.
