9. Buffer solution was washed out after the protein deposition step to avoid extrinsic effects due to the presence of salts. However no changes in the current intensity flowing through the device was observed before and after the washing procedure.
10. For applied bias larger than 5 V the electric field intensity between the tips increases substantially, possibly leading to break of the covalent bonding, and thus originating some noise in the measured current (this is somewhat uncontrolled and depends on the local shape of the tips near the edge).
