    • By the term 1P bubble, we mean a bubble that has been excited from the 1S into the 1P state, and has then relaxed to a configuration of minimum nergy, the wave function deforming adiabatically during this process.

    • Elser [J. Low Temp. Phys. 123, 7 (2001)] has pointed out that during the rapid motion of the bubble wall after optical excitation, energy will be lost into the liquid due to the radiation of sound. Thus, there will still be energy loss even at T = 0 K. Whether or not this energy loss is sufficient to prevent the waist becoming zero when the ambient liquid pressure is zero has not been established.

    • Rae and Vinen [J. Low Temp. Phys. 123, 1 (2001)] argue that if the bubble were to divide into two, one of the new bubbles would quickly collapse.
