9. When an Ir atom finally moves to the edge, it is caught there, until it incorporates into the step. From measurements at one temperature, the barrier to incorporation is estimated to be ∼0.47 eV at an A-type step, made of (100) facets; at an edge of type B, composed of (111) facets, it is only ∼0.42 eV.
