    • If the elements are put even partly in series, stronger nonlinear compression ensues, because the iteration of a cubic root leads to a fixed point. In principle, even infinitely steep tuning curves could ensue. Such a model is probably more adequate but it is a lot harder to treat analytically and will be examined elsewhere.
