    • For QDs with an ideal free surface, only two Raman-active modes with the angular momentum l = 0 and l = 2 are observed. However, in real QDs embedded in a matrix, deviations from a perfect spherical surface can relax the selection rules and torsional modes with l = 1 can be observed in the Raman spectra.
