The water content of the air-dried films was estimated, from the weight loss of the films after heating at about 100 °C under vacuum overnight, to be about 15 wt % or less. 79. The presence of residual water molecules and irregular widths of the columns (since the aggregates are not necessarily simple one-molecule-wide columns) presumably results in the variation in the main d spacing that was observed from sample to sample.
