22. Zinc activation: 50 g of zinc (supplied by Loba, India) was washed with distilled water (2×50 ml). After decanting the water layer, it was treated with 5% dil. HCl (2×30 ml) with vigorous stirring. The acid was decanted and the zinc was treated with distilled water (3×50 ml). It was then treated with acetone to remove the traces of water (2×50 ml). The zinc was then dried in an oven at 100°C for 8 h.
