    • As shown later, the near-interfacial concentration of HCl should not exceed 0.01 M at the highest HCl flux. The highest steady-state ratio of HCl to glycerol at the surface is therefore close to 0.01 M/13 M or ∼0.1%. This small ratio indicates that HCl molecules already at the surface should not interfere with the adsorption of incoming HCl.
