    • It has been demonstrated that in order to obtain good agreement between theory and experiment for the bandwidth of simple metals at T = 0 using an LDA + GW approach, it is necessary to go beyond the random-phase approximation when determining the screened interaction. A Hubbard-type dielectric function based on LDA was used to calculate renormalized bandwidths in J.E. Northrop, M.S. Hybertsen, and S.G. Louie, Phys. Rev. B 59, 819 (1987). We are mainly concerned with the general behavior of the bandwidth when the electron temperature is raised, so we use RPA in this work and leave a more accurate determination for later study.
