Personal Communication with B. von Roedern and J. del Cueto, Experiment Design for the Round Robin Performance Test of Amorphous Silicon Modules in Different Climates, 2000. In this four-year experiment, started in early 2001, three identical sets of a-Si modules from four different manufacturers are being simultaneously deployed in Arizona (Arizona State Photovoltaic Testing Laboratory - NREL) and Florianópolis (LABSOLAR). Each site deploys and monitors I-V characteristics under real operating conditions, and every 12 months all modules are sent to the NREL for STC measurements. Easch set is then shipped from 1st year to successive permutation of sites according to a predetermined schedule. The project objectives include the study of the light-induced degradation and stabilization characteristics of a-Si multijunction modules with regards to (i) geographic location- and climate-specific dependent effects; (ii) specific history of exposure effects; and (iii) monitoring and comparing degradation rates in different climates.
