9. Lu GC, Rouse DJ, DuBard M, et al. The effect of the increasing prevalence of maternal obesity on perinatal morbidity. Am J Obstet Gynecol 2001; 185:845-849. This is a cohort study using information from a large database carried out by well known researchers. The study reports on the changes in attributable risks of maternal obesity over two decades.
10. Rooney BL, Schauberger CW. Excess pregnancy weight gain and long-term obesity: One decade later. Obstet Gynecol 2002; 100:245-252. This study looked at the impact that excess weight gain during pregnancy and failure to lose the weight postpartum had on the development of obesity years later.
11. Lederman SA. Pregnancy weight gain and postpartum loss: Avoiding obesity while optimizing the growth and development of the fetus. JAMWA 2001; 56:53-58. This paper does a good job of reviewing the risks and benefits of different amounts of weight gain during pregnancy.
12. Sebire NJ, Jolly M, Harris JP, et al. Maternal obesity and pregnancy outcome: A study of 287 213 pregnancies in London. Int J Obes 2001; 25:1175-1182. The largest study published so far on maternal obesity. The authors used a large maternity database to look at the associations between obesity and a large number of maternal and perinatal complications.

This is a large population-based cohort study utilizing birth certificate data. Multivariate analysis was used to investigate the significance of the associations between maternal obesity and various pregnancy outcomes.
