Follow up of urinary tract problems in adults with myelomeningocele

Glott T, Stanghelle JK, Rand-Hendriksen S, et al. Follow up of urinary tract problems in adults with myelomeningocele. Tidsskr Nor Laegeforen 2001; 121:1247-1251. Only the ultimate outcome, once these patients are adolescents or adults, will retrospectively allow a judgement how effective our efforts are: one of the very few papers dealing with this topic.

Long-term followup of newborns with myelodysplasia and normal urodynamic findings: Is followup necessary?
-
Tarcan T, Bauer S, Olmedo E, et al. Long-term followup of newborns with myelodysplasia and normal urodynamic findings: Is followup necessary? J Urol 2001; 165:564-567. Also children with normal urodynamics after repair of the spinal defect deserve careful follow-up: in 30% deterioration occurs during the first 5 years of life, mainly due to secondary tethering; only early diagnosis and correction provides good results with detethering.

-
Kassouf W, Capolicchio G, Berardinucci G, Corcos J. Collagen injection for treatment of urinary incontinence in children. J Urol 2001; 165:1666-1668.
