-
Suman E, Gopalkrishna K, Bhat K, Hegde BM. Bacterial adherence and immune response in recurrent urinary tract infection. Int J Gynaecol Obstet 2001; 75:263-268. • This study confirmed increased adherence of bacteria to the vaginal epithelial cells in women with recurrent UTIs. However, urinary secretory immunoglobulin A leveis were low compared with other antibodies, suggesting that impaired local immunity may predispose to recurrent UTIs.
