4. To a solution of lupeol (1 g, 2.35 mmol) in dry DCM was freshly prepared PCC (2.016 g, 9.36 mmol) added and reaction mixture stirred at room temperature for 30 h. Filtered and pure lupenone was extracted with diethyl ether (yield 92%).
