    • Strictly speaking, the situation for polyacetylene is more complicated than that described by our simple model due to the Peierls dimerization. However, as our resulting expressions contain characteristics of the polaronic state in a given material (the binding energy and the size), we can use them as effective input parameters. Polaron characteristics were calculated for polyacetylene (Ref. 8), those for PPV [H. A. Mizes and E. M. Conwell, Synth. Met. 68, 145 (1995)] are similar.
