5. A recent report (I. G. Koprinkov et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 84, 3847 (2000)) claims the observation of STS with normal GVD. However, the propagation length was less than 10% of the dispersion length in these experiments. In addition, it appears that the authors observe spatial compression in the far field, which corresponds to spatial broadening of the beam.Thus, the claim of STS is inappropriate. See A. L.
