    • The angles θ and are the coordinate angles in the polar coordinate system, which describes the refractive properties of the crystal. θ is the angle between the optic axis and the propagation vector, and is the angle between the projection of the propagation vector on the XY plane and the X axis, where XYZ coordinate system defines the principal planes of the crystal.
