18. The initial observation of this effect was due to a cross contamination of our hexane still by THF through the nitrogen lines. However, subsequent experiments have demonstrated that the synthesis of 5 and 6 may be accomplished in a rational manner by using ca. 2 equiv of THF in toluene solution.
