20. In the related hexasilane, a methyl group on each of Si(l) and Si(4) of 1 is replaced by a dimethylphenylsilyl group. The Si2-Si3-Si4-Si5 dihedral angle about its central Si-Si bond is 117.5° as determined by single-crystal X-ray crystallography.12
