Another energy scale that is of the same order as (formula presented) and thus deserves further consideration is the mean-level spacing between the two states closest to the band center, (formula presented). It is clear that (formula presented), due to corrections from distributions of eigenenergies not closest to the band center, and we find also (formula presented), with (formula presented) and (formula presented) (implying that the corrections are quite small).
