    • In fact, this is not the first example of a connection between [2.2]paracyclophane and barrelene chemistry since various mono- and poly-bridged [2.2]paracyclophanes have previously been transformed into barrelenes by [2+4] cycloaddition reactions between these cyclophane precursors and reactive triple bond dienophiles.
