One of the two most widely used statistical software packages for the social sciences was used for the examples in this article: SPSS for Windows version 10.0. The other software in common use is SAS: Statistical Analysis System. Lotus 1-2-3 and Excel also offer significant-difference testing routines, though they are somewhat simplified.
