    • All the DNAs were synthesized by solid phase phosphoramidite method and purified by reverse phase HPLC. Concentration of DNAs was determined from the absorbance at 260 nm at high temperature with extinction coefficients calculated as described in ref 8. It was assumed that extinction coefficient of a hairpin containing abasic site was the sum of two regions separated by the abasic site.
