The light intensity transmitted through the film is affected by the interference in the film, and is dependent on the thickness and refractive index of the film. Since we were observing the light transmission near the 52nd peak of the fringe pattern of the interference, very small changes in the thickness or refractive index are considered to cause the change of the transmitted light intensity (K. Ishii, T. Okamura, T. Takahashi, and H. Nakayama, to be published).
