16. The strip is defined by the set of points whose perpendicular space coordinates lie within a finite “acceptance domain.
17. The Hamiltonian is invariant under a reindexation of points given by inversion of the perpendicular space coordinate with respect to the midpoint of the strip. This symmetry is not exactly obeyed in the approximants, however, the symmetry breaking gets weaker as the system size is increased.
