Identification of domains in IL-16 critical for biological activity

•• This is the first published structure-function analysis of IL-16 using point mutations and deletions to assess the requirements for the biological activities of chemotaxis and MLR inhibition. A single point mutation in the C-terminal tail abolishes chemoattractant activity, while deletion of both die N-terminal and C-terminal tails is needed to completely abolish MLR inhibitory activity.
