18. The equations that determine a periodic orbit of Eq. (1) with period θ can be written decomposing the orbit γ(t) in a Fourier series. The orbit must satisfy γ(t) = F(γ(t), γ(t - τ)). But from the Fourier series we have γ(t - τ) = γ(t - τ - nθ) and the equations of the orbit are invariant under the transformation τ → τ + nθ.
