4Ti and 50 mol % of cyc-HexMgCl did not give cyclized product. In initial investigations, we found that the reaction could be carried out by using i-PrMgCl, i-BuMgCl, n-BuMgBr, or cyc-HexMgCl. Among these activators, cyc-HexMgCl gave slightly better yields. The use of EtMgBr did not provide cyclized product.
