    • Although to quantitatively estimate the proton-transfer barrier a more flexible basis set (including diffuse functions) would be needed, the possible changes in the value of the barrier would not affect our conclusions, since as mentioned above, the difference between the proton-transfer barrier (7 kcal/mol) and the energy gap between both exit channels (21 kcal/mol) is very large.
