The name "quantum reflection" is increasingly applied to the perfect reflection of atoms from an evanescent wave at a solid surface (e.g., [7]). The effective potential in this case is short range, however, and the S(k)-dependence therefore phenomenologically different.

Many-body effects are implicitly included in our treatment only at the level of intra-system correlations harbored by the van der Waals interaction. Yet even with the non-perturbative inclusion of many-body effects in the presence of a threshold (zero energy) bound state, a linear S(k) ∼ k dependence persists in the k → 0 regime [12].
