    • One expects to obtain the final prodrugs, containing at least 2 molecules of HCl, since the amine functions are converted to the corresponding ammonium chloride salts. However, amide bond-containing molecules of this size are capable of trapping acids and retaining cosolvents. This phenomenon may be avoided by adding equimolar amounts of HCl after the deprotection reaction
