    • The excited state potentials ot the Ru(II) phosphonate complexes can be estimated from the Ru(III/II) potentials and the excited state energy (Tables 1 and 2). Using the 77 K emission maxima as an estimate of the zero-zero emission energy, the Ru(III/II*) potentials are estimated to be +0.8 ± 0.1 V.
