    • Satisfactory analytical data for 6 could not be obtained, but it was deemed to be pure by chromatographic and spectroscopic analyses. The experimental carbon content for 11 and 12 was slightly lower than the corresponding calculated value which could be related to the difficulty in complete combustion of these macrocycles (see Hu, M.; Brasseur, N.; Yildiz, S. Z., van Lier, J. E.; Leznoff, C. C. J. Med. Chem. 1998 41, 1789).
