12. Mauricio Birabent, who was a close friend of the present writer, confided to him that his friendship with Eva Perón enabled him to recoup some of the money he had invested in Democracia. She granted him a monopoly of the newspaper's advertising for a certain period on condition that he promise to sell the paper for one peso to whoever Perón chose. In a published letter to FICHAS, dated October 27, 1965, he said that he was obliged to sell the paper to the ALEA Group, organized by "Miranda, Maroglio, Cuadrado and nazi and nationalist groups," for 50,000 pesos, from which 10,000 pesos was deducted as a commission.
