3. The inelastic strain was determined by deducing the elastic strain components from the total strain. In our tests the linear part of the stress strain curve was taken to quantify the elastic strain components (see Fig. 1). The determination of elastic strain is problematic because there are not only contributions from the test specimen but also contributions coming from the testing machine as the measurement was not done directly at the specimen but involves transfer to the strain measuring device outside the furnace via extensometers.
