A small region of intermediate tilt phase has been found in eicosanoic acid [M. K. Durbin, A. Malik, A. G. Richter, R. Ghaskadvi, T. Gog, and P. Dutta, J. Chem. Phys. 106, 8216 (1997)]. It is not known if this phase exists in other acids or in the acetates.
